A/C, Electrical & Battery in San Jose, CA

Climate systems, charging systems, batteries and hard-to-trace electrical faults, found with dealer-level diagnostic equipment.

What this covers

Three systems that have one thing in common: when they fail, you notice right away.

  • Air conditioning. A compressor, condenser, evaporator, blower fan and controls move heat out of the cabin, using refrigerant sealed inside the system.
  • Charging and starting. The battery starts the car, the starter turns the engine over, and the alternator recharges the battery and runs the electrics once the engine is going.
  • Electrical. Wiring, fuses, relays, control modules and sensors run everything from power windows to the warning lights on your dash.

Signs you need it

A/C: air that blows warm or only cools at highway speed, weak airflow, a musty smell from the vents, or a new noise when the A/C is on.

Battery and charging: slow cranking, a clicking sound when you turn the key or press start, dim lights, a battery warning light, or corrosion around the battery terminals. Heat is hard on batteries, and a battery can fail with little warning. A battery light that comes on while you are driving often points to the charging system rather than the battery itself.

Electrical: features that work some days and not others, fuses that keep blowing, a battery that goes flat overnight, or warning messages that appear for no clear reason.

What we check and do

For A/C, we test how cold the system blows and check for leaks, along with the compressor, cooling fans and cabin air filter. Many newer cars use a different refrigerant than older ones, and each system has to be serviced with the type it was built for.

For batteries and charging, we test the battery, the alternator's output and the starter, so you replace the part that failed and not the one that happened to be easiest to reach. On many BMW models, a new battery has to be registered to the car so the charging system treats it correctly; we check what your model needs.

For electrical faults, our certified technicians use dealer-level diagnostic equipment to read module codes, then trace the circuit with wiring diagrams and testing. These are the electrical problems other shops send away.

What to expect

Intermittent problems are easier to find when you tell us when they happen: hot or cold, wet or dry, on startup or after a long drive. Once we find the cause, you get a written estimate, and no work begins without your approval.

Questions we hear every week.

Why does my battery keep dying?

The usual causes are an aging battery, a charging system that is not keeping up, or something drawing power while the car is off. We test all three so the fix matches the cause.

My A/C is not as cold as it used to be. Can you just add refrigerant?

The A/C is a sealed system, so low refrigerant usually means a leak. Adding refrigerant without finding the leak is a short-term fix. We check for leaks first and quote the repair.

Does a new battery need anything besides being installed?

On many newer cars, yes. Some models, many BMWs among them, need the new battery registered to the car, and some settings may need to be reset afterward. We check what your model needs.

Can you fix a problem that only happens sometimes?

Often, yes. Many modules store fault codes even after the symptom goes away. Tell us when it happens and what you notice, and we will use that along with the stored codes to find it.
